Farm Camping by the Sea

A hilltop farm retreat on the North Norfolk coast

Seaside Farmstay Camping & Glamping with mYminiBreak is an upcoming farm campsite set in the rolling farmland of the Norfolk coast.

Combining the charm of a traditional Norfolk farm stay with camping and glamping, this site gives guests a genuine taste of rural coastal life. With open fields, wild animals, and the sounds of the countryside all around, it's the perfect escape for families, couples, and groups who want something more than a standard campsite.

The farm setting makes this a brilliant spot for kids to learn about animals and rural life, while the proximity to some of Norfolk's finest beaches means the coast is never far away.

Our Farmstay Accommodation

a blue and yellow call to action that says "check out other options farmstay"

Why take a seaside farm stay in Norfolk?

Plenty of places in Norfolk do glamping. Plenty do camping. A handful sit on a farm. Seaside Farmstay is the one that does all of it, three miles from the sand, inside the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This is farmstay camping with the coast never far away. Kids enjoy a county full of activities and fun things to do. Grown-ups sit by a fire pit with a beer and watch the light go copper over the sea bank. It is the sort of family farm holiday people book for one night and extend to three.

And because the safari tents and shepherd's huts are built for colder months, this works in February as well as August: quiet lanes, seal pups on the beach, the coast path to yourself.

Whether you prefer sleeping under canvas or having a few more comforts around you, Seaside Farmstay Camping & Glamping gives you both options.

Bring your own tent and enjoy a traditional Seaside Farmstay Camping experience, with the freedom to spend your days outdoors and your evenings around the fire.

For an easier escape, choose glamping at Seaside Farmstay and enjoy comfortable accommodation without having to bring all the camping equipment with you. It's a great option for couples, families and anyone who loves the idea of camping but prefers a little extra comfort.

Glamping in large safari tents

The heart of Seaside Farmstay is the large safari tent: proper standing height, real beds, room for a family or two couples who actually like each other, outdoor deck or seating, and evening fire without living out of a boot.

This is not a two-person pop-up. It is canvas with enough comfort that you'll stop arguing about "should we have booked a cottage" and start planning the salt marsh charter and the Friday night table instead.

Turn up. Unpack once. Leave the car for the days that need it. The rest of the time the farm and the lanes do the work.

What you're getting

✅ Space and privacy on a quiet Norfolk farm

✅ A base smart enough for paddleboards, boat days and long lunches

✅ Wholesome mornings before high-ticket afternoons

✅ Evenings under a proper roof of canvas, not a hurried flysheet

Safari Tents

Wholesome good living on the farm

What sets Seaside Farmstay apart from a standard coastal campsite is the farmstay rhythm. We keep a small group of novelty farm animals that guests can get to know.

🐔 Say good morning to the chickens and goats

🥚 Collect eggs for breakfast when the hens have laid

🐐 Let children see animals up close, supervised and calm

☕ Slow breakfast on the deck before the day begins

The slow morning is part of the product. It is also what makes the expensive afternoon feel earned: barefoot in the dew before the lifejacket goes on.

We are not a working farm and we do not pretend to be. We are a quiet hilltop farmstay with a few friendly animals and the North Norfolk coast on the doorstep.

Your base for the North Norfolk days that cost properly

You want a week of experiences. Book the bed with us. Book the operators direct. Plan the spend on Norfolk activities so the stay carries the whole trip.

On the water

• Paddleboarding on the Hunstanton stretch when wind and tide allow, with hire and lessons from local watersports operators.

• Windsurfing and kitesurfing off Hunstanton and along the West Norfolk coast, where the steady onshore winds draw riders from across the region. Lessons and kit hire are available locally.

• Wild swimming at Holme and Old Hunstanton on calm days. Swim with a friend, check tide times first and stay out of tidal channels; the tide on this coast comes in fast, especially around Brancaster.

• Charter a boat on the salt marshes: skippered traditional Norfolk boats through the creeks, usually from Wells-next-the-Sea.

• Seal trips from Morston when you want to see Blakeney Point the easy way.

At the table

• Great places to dine out along this coast

• Brancaster and Thornham for harbour and deli energy.

•  Burnham Market when you want the polished night, Wells quayside when you want chips with a view.

•  White Horse Holme when you want a serious pub table a short hop from Holme.

• Safari tent guests often plan one proper dinner out and one fire-pit night. That mix is the brand.

On the farm between the big days

• Feed chickens and goats.

• Collect eggs.

• Do nothing on the deck with a paper and a pot of coffee. High-spend does not mean every hour is booked.

Rare experiences

• Handle an owl and other birds of prey with local falconry / owl experiences (book the operator; we are the base).

• Wildlife days at Holme Dunes, RSPB Snettisham Spectacular windows, Wild Ken Hill.

On two wheels and two feet

• Cycle country lanes to the seaside along and around the Peddars Way finish at Holme-next-the-Sea: quiet roads, big sky, bike back to canvas.

• Norfolk Coast Path along this stretch of coast; one-night walkers still welcome, but safari guests usually want the multi-day version with a real bed waiting.

Brancaster Beach

Brancaster is about five miles from the Seaside Farmstay strip we are building for. Beach first: big sky, proper North Norfolk sand, the sort of day that empties the boot of boards, buckets and wet dogs and fills it again with shells and sandy towels.

Brancaster Staithe is the harbour half of the same story. Sailing, mud and tide, boats that work for a living as well as for fun. Fresh seafood off the boat is not a brochure line here; it is what the harbour does when the catch is in. Safari-tent guests who want one “we actually ate well” night often point the car at Brancaster or Thornham and leave the fire pit for the next evening.

Seaside Farmstay’s job is simple: you sleep on the farm, not in a car park above the Staithe. Morning animals and eggs if the hens have laid; afternoon beach or harbour; evening either canvas or a harbour table. Book the boat or the lesson with the operator. Book the bed with us when the farm is live.

From the farm: ~5 miles · beach days · Staithe harbour · sailing energy · seafood when the boats deliver · base for a high-spend coastal week without living on the quayside.

Holme-next-the-Sea

Holme-next-the-Sea sits roughly three miles from where Seaside Farmstay Camping & Glamping is aimed. That is the short hop that makes this farmstay feel coastal rather than “inland with a brochure map”.

Holme Dunes nature reserve is the headline: dunes, marsh edge, birds that actually use the place, and a beach that stays quieter than the arcade strip. Sand here is for walking, dogs where rules allow, and the kind of empty horizon that makes a safari tent or pitch feel like a proper base rather than a parking space with a view of someone else’s awning.

Holme is also where the Peddars Way meets the sea. Walkers and cyclists treat that finish line as a reason to plan a mini break, not a day trip from halfway across the county. From Seaside Farmstay you can aim a morning ride or foot day at Holme, then come back to canvas, fire, and farm quiet without another long drive.

Pair Holme with a table at the White Horse when you want a serious pub night close by, and with myminibreak.com trails and wildlife reading when you want the path and bird story before you pack boots.

From the farm: short hop · dunes and quiet sand · Peddars Way country · dog-sensible beaches in season rules · back to Seaside Farmstay for the night.

Thornham

Thornham is one of those North Norfolk, UK villages where I’d happily spend a few hours without making a complicated plan. Head towards the old harbour and you’ll find salt marsh, boats and a wide-open view that changes with the tide. It’s a good place to slow down and watch what the coast is doing.

There are walks around the village and marshes, with the Norfolk Coast Path passing through the area. Afterwards, Thornham Deli or one of the village pubs gives you somewhere to stop for lunch before heading back.

Seaside Farmstay Camping & Glamping will to give you a rural base for days like this: a morning out in Thornham, something good to eat, then back to the farmstay.

Drove Orchard

At Drove Orchards, just outside Thornham, you can browse the farm shop, explore the independent shops and find somewhere to eat. The orchards are part of the appeal too, with seasonal fruit and pick-your-own opportunities when available.

I like the idea of making this a useful stop during a mini break. Pick up something local for your next meal, have a look around the shops and pair it with a visit to Thornham harbour or the coast. Check Drove Orchards before you go for what’s open and in season.

It’s exactly the sort of place we want guests at Seaside Farmstay Camping & Glamping to enjoy: a local business with its own character, worth visiting as part of a few days exploring North Norfolk, UK.

Burnham

Burnham Market is about seven miles from Seaside Farmstay’s intended strip. People call it Chelsea-on-Sea because the delis, galleries and Friday feel can look like a magazine. That is fine. The point of a farmstay base is you can visit that energy and still sleep somewhere with goats, space and a dark sky.

Use Burnham for the polished supper, the deli bag for the next day’s picnic, the gallery wander when the beach is full of wind. Safari-tent guests who plan one dressed-up night and one fire-pit night often put Burnham on the dressed-up slot. Children and dogs still fit if you pick the right door; lead manners on the farm stay non-negotiable when you get home.

Seaside Farmstay is not trying to be Burnham. It is trying to be the honest countryside night after Burnham.

From the farm: ~7 miles · delis and galleries · Friday market-town energy · proper supper night · back to rural quiet and canvas.

Holkham Hall

Holkham Hall makes a different sort of day out from a morning on the beach. You can explore the stately home, walk through the parkland and visit the walled garden, then find a table for lunch. There’s plenty for families too, with a woodland play area, cycle hire and seasonal activities to check before you travel.

If the weather is on your side, make a longer day of it and head towards Holkham Beach, with its broad sands and pine woods. The hall, garden and activities have their own opening times and charges, so have a look at the Holkham website when you’re planning.

For guests interested in Seaside Farmstay Camping & Glamping, Holkham is one of the places we want to put on the mini-break map: a day out at the estate and coast, with the planned farmstay as your base for exploring the wider area.

A farmstay for the family, the dog, or the whole van

The site is laid out so a group of eighteen and a couple in a hut can have the same weekend without ever meeting.

Families

Arcades to play, pine woods to explore, plus a beach twenty-five minutes away on foot. Child-friendly glamping in the safari tents if nobody fancies a mat on the floor.

Couples

Shepherd's huts at the far end of the meadow, wood burner lit, fire pit at the step, nothing passing. Midweek out of season is as close to silence as Norfolk gets.

Touring caravans

Pull in, pitch up, awning out. Touring pitches with electric hook-up and a quiet hilltop setting a short drive from the coast.

Walkers

The Peddars Way finishes at Holme, about three miles away, where it meets the Norfolk Coast Path. Pitch up on the hill, walk the coast, come back to a fire.

Dog owners

A properly dog friendly campsite: dogs across every camping area, in selected glamping units, and on the lead around livestock. Miles of field footpaths and dog-legal beach at Holme and Brancaster start at the gate.

Campervans & motorhomes

A sensible one-night stop or a fortnight's base for exploring the North Norfolk coast, with hook-up on touring pitches

Things to do on this bit of coast

Worth the drive, or the walk. Everything here is inside half an hour, and most of it is inside fifteen minutes. Several of them you can reach on foot.

Holme Dunes

3 miles
Norfolk Wildlife Trust reserve where the Peddars Way finally meets the sea. Boardwalks through the dunes, a hide for the migrating birds, and sand that empties out by four o'clock.

The Norfolk Coast Path

From the gate
Eighty-four miles from Hunstanton to Sea Palling, and it passes the bottom of the farm. We do a one-night walkers' pitch with an early breakfast for exactly this reason.

Brancaster Staithe

5 miles
Mussels, oysters and crab landed where you buy them. Boat trips out to the seal colony on Blakeney Point leave from Morston, a little further east.

Holkham Beach & Hall

8 miles
The pine-backed beach everybody photographs, and an 18th-century hall with wild deer, cycle routes and a tree-top trail behind it.

RSPB Snettisham

9 miles
The Wader Spectacular: tens of thousands of birds lifting off The Wash at a spring tide. Book the car park first, leave two hours before high water.

Wild Ken Hill

9 miles
The rewilding project from BBC Springwatch. Beavers, ponies, cattle and kites across 1,500 acres of West Norfolk, and our neighbours down the coast.

Seaside Farmstay FAQs

Is this actually a working farm?

Our seaside farmstay site is not an actual working farm, but it retains those unique, rural farm qualities and captures that "vibe" perfectly.

How far is the beach?

About a 25-minute walk through the farm track and over the dunes to Holme, or five minutes in the car to Hunstanton and Brancaster. You are inside the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the whole way.

Do you allow dogs?

We are a dog friendly campsite through and through. Dogs are welcome across all camping areas and in selected glamping units, on a lead on-site to not disrupt other guests. Miles of beach and field walking starts at the gate. Add your dog to the booking so we put you on the right pitch.

Are you open in winter?

The shepherd's huts and safari tents run all year, which is what year-round glamping in Norfolk actually looks like: wood burner lit, coast to yourself, seal pups on the beach from late October. Tent and touring pitches are seasonal, March to early November.

What is there for a couple rather than a family?

The shepherd's huts sit at the far end of the meadow, away from the tent field, with their own fire pits and no passing traffic. Book midweek and the site is close to silent.

Can we have a campfire?

Yes, in the fire pits provided. Fires stay at least three metres from tents and canvas, never go unattended, and get put out properly with the water buckets by each pit. Firewood is on sale in the shop; please do not burn farm timber or driftwood.

Can you take a large group?

The group field is separate from the family camping and takes exclusive-hire bookings from twelve people. Reunions, scouts, sports clubs, big birthdays. Ring the office and we will talk it through rather than send a form.

Fire safety at Seaside Farm Stay Camping & Glamping

We gladly welcome fires and firepits at Seaside Farmstay, just be sure to follow these rules.

  1. Fires and BBQs only in the pits provided, three metres clear of canvas.
  2. Never leave a fire unattended, and put it out with the water bucket at the pit.
  3. No smoking inside tents, huts or the barn. Extinguishers are by each wash block.
