Fire on Ken Hill Estate -Turtle Doves suffer

This is such a shame - the devastation that fire brings to wildlife, most likely caused by the heat last week and the sun shining on the discarded glass bottles which people have thoughtlessly tossed into the dense undergrowth that these rare birds nest in 😢. The fire destroyed much of their habitat on the Wild Ken Hill Estate in Snettisham 😢.

These are classified as vulnerable on the Red List of endangered birds as "their numbers have declined by 93% since the 1970s. They are ecologically unique in the UK as our only migratory dove species and face a range of threats across their flyway including habitat loss on wintering and breeding grounds, hunting and disease." according to The Wildlife Trusts https://tinyurl.com/28bparqj
